#Vox Tonelab St Patch List manual#
list in the manual I couldn't figure out where to go. I read the equipment list and thought I'd try to mimic the setup in my stomplab. green album, which was going through my mind in a song I'm writing. I of course do stop fiddling when I find a combination that sounds great, regardless of whether or not I know what the amp/cab combination is - but what sent me down the road was trying come up with a weezer rhythm sound ca. Yes - the legal issues were expected, but if you don't have a lot of experience with different amps those descriptions in the manual aren't all that helpful. The chorus and echo can really open the sound up depending on which you select. This way when you come back to it you don't have to spend hours testing them all out again.īy the way, that pedal is stereo so use a TRS splitter cable when recording with it. You can also test others and come up with a three tiered color system from Best for leads, to best for rhythm, and one for both. If the US Rock 3 with a 4X10 cab sounds best before you tweak anything, then simply use a highlighter on that list and mark them as a Favorite. This is why I say, simply use what's in the manual and don't get overly worried about them being an exact match. I suppose what I should do is run a couple of them in parallel so I'm able to get a closer match between them but once you add the cab and whatever effects you include its tone and drive are only going to change, as it should and would if you were driving the same head into different speaker cabs. I doubt any two of them sound identical for the same amps however.

I have a rare delta Lab and a Korg too which all list models. Overall, they tend to sound much cleaner at low volumes, but cranked they get much closer sounding. The Digitec RP150 is a fairly decent box and they are less cryptic with their amp models. I do have several other amp modeler pedals like this too. It just requires walking over plugging in and turning on one of those to record with in the studio. Same thing for Fender, Sunn, Ampeg, Peavey. I can easily just use one of those to get the real deal.

If I wanted a Marshall tone exclusively, I own 4 marshal amps, plus several of their drive pedals. If they are slightly different who cares so long as it sounds good. I've owned many different amps over the years and nailing down their classic tones isn't too hard for me.

I gave up trying and simply found the best tones and tweaked them that way they needed to sound. Picking out which amp specifically by ear is pretty much impossible. US blues are likely smaller combo's with a single speaker, the UK is obviously Marshall, and the US Metal is likely Boogie amps and possibly something like the Peavy 5150 thrown in there. The 2X12 can be a Twin, Bassman, Deluxe etc. Something like US typically refers to pre CBS Fender amps. They do list their own amp types there but you're right about the rest. They'd be taken to the cleaners in a lawsuits for naming a half dozen different amp manufacturers by both the manufacturers and the end users who would dispute the tones are actual Fender, marshall etc.

If for example, they say the one amp head is a Fender Deluxe without Fenders permission they are infringing on Fender patents. The issue with pedal makers when it comes to amp modeling is they run into legal issues when dealing with trade marks. I have those same stomplab pedals for bass and guitar so I sympathize with you on that.
